How your data is handled
Pūteaflow is built so that your bank data never lands on a Pūteaflow server. In plain English:
- •No accounts, no logins. Pūteaflow has no user accounts or sign-up. Nothing to register, nothing to recover.
- •No Pūteaflow servers handle your data. When Pūteaflow needs to read your accounts or transactions, your iPhone talks to Akahu directly. We do not run a proxy or middle-tier server.
- •On-device storage with private iCloud sync. Your data lives on your device (Core Data) and is mirrored only to your own private iCloud database. Guinto Tech cannot see this data.
- •App-level lock. Bank-connected screens are gated behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. The lock runs on launch and after a short period of inactivity.
- •Pseudonymous analytics only. We use PostHog with a random pseudonymous identifier. Events never include dollar amounts, merchant names, or account identifiers.

Connecting your bank with Akahu
What you'll get from connecting
Connect your bank securely. We'll fetch up to 12 months of transaction history and refresh it daily until you tell us to stop.
Scope and duration
Read-only access to accounts, balances, and transactions. Akahu cannot move money on your behalf. Your consent lasts about 90 days, after which you re-authorise yourself in-app — there is no silent refresh.
What happens to your data
All data stays on your device and in your own private iCloud account. Pūteaflow has no servers that see your transactions, balances, or account details.
Akahu relationship
Akahu is New Zealand's open-finance platform. We use Akahu to securely connect to your bank. Find out more about Akahu at akahu.nz/consumer.
Revocation
You can disconnect at any time, either in Pūteaflow (Me → tap your bank → Disconnect) or via Akahu's dashboard at my.akahu.nz. Revocation is immediate.

After the trial, Pūteaflow continues as an auto-renewing subscription billed by Apple via StoreKit through your App Store account. You can manage or cancel at any time from your Apple ID Subscriptions screen.

Frequently asked
Which banks are supported?
Pūteaflow connects through Akahu, which supports the major New Zealand banks. The full and current list of supported institutions is maintained by Akahu — when you tap "Connect a bank" in Pūteaflow you will see the live list inside Akahu's hosted connection flow.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. Pūteaflow has no servers that see your transactions, balances, or account details. Your bank data lives on your device (Core Data) and in your own private iCloud database; only you can access it. The only third parties involved are Akahu (to connect to your bank), Apple (iCloud sync and the App Store), and PostHog for pseudonymous product analytics that never include any financial values or identifiers.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access to bank-connected features until the end of your current Apple billing period. Cancellation is handled in your Apple ID Subscriptions screen. You can also delete your account from inside Pūteaflow at any time, which wipes all locally cached data and cascades the deletion to your private iCloud copy.
Can I disconnect at any time?
Yes. Disconnect inside Pūteaflow (Me → tap your bank → Disconnect) or revoke our access via Akahu's hosted dashboard at my.akahu.nz. Revocation is immediate — there is no silent re-authorisation, and Pūteaflow will delete the locally cached data for that connection.
Is Pūteaflow available outside NZ?
No. Pūteaflow is offered to residents of New Zealand only, because the open-banking integrations available through Akahu work with New Zealand banks.
